đ As part of the STELLA Project, we spoke with Prof. Tiberio Daddi about the critical intersections between youth work, sport, and environmental sustainability â and how young people can be powerful drivers of lasting change.
đ¨âđŤTiberio Daddi is an Associate Professor at the prestigious SantâAnna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, Italy, and a leading voice in environmental management and sustainability education.
đĄ With expertise in Environmental Economics, Circular Economy, and Corporate Sustainability, Prof. Daddi brings both academic insight and real-world experience, having worked on EU-funded projects, consulting, and green transition strategies.
đââď¸đą âSport is a powerful vehicle for environmental education,â he explains. âIt promotes teamwork, discipline, and shared responsibility â all essential values in the fight for a more sustainable future.â
He highlights how sports can:
â
Actively engage young people in green causes
â
Involve local authorities to improve urban life through sustainable events
â
Mobilize athletes as role models for eco-conscious behavior
â
Integrate sustainability into both formal and non-formal education
đ But he also acknowledges a challenge:
âSustainability can feel overwhelming or too complex. We must show that even small steps matter. Change doesnât have to be perfect â it just has to begin.â
đŹ His message to youth workers?
Stay curious. Stay connected. Embrace collaboration. And remember â no action is too small when it comes to making a positive impact. đż
