As part of the STELLA Project, we interviewed Michele Zucca to explore the intersection of sport, youth work, and environmental sustainability. 🌱⚽️
Michele is an expert in environmental education and youth engagement from the small town of Genoni, Sardinia. With over 20 years of experience in museum education and sustainability, he’s a passionate advocate for a greener, more conscious generation.
🏞️ “Climate change and respect — for the planet and for each other—are the two biggest challenges we face,” Michele shares.
💬 So, how can sport help?
“Sport teaches commitment, teamwork, and respect — values that align perfectly with environmental responsibility. It’s a powerful tool to make young people more conscious and connected to the environment.”
🌍 Michele believes youth work must go beyond practical knowledge. It’s about cultivating ethics, awareness, and curiosity, particularly by connecting young people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
🤝 “Intercultural dialogue and exchange help dismantle fears and build a new, conscious generation — even in small, rural communities.”
💡 His words remind us how non-formal education, sport, and environmental awareness can spark real change.
