The STELLA project (2024–2026), co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme, is moving forward with impactful activities that unite sport and environmental sustainability. With partners from Italy, Malta, Cyprus, Portugal, and Greece, STELLA continues to empower youth and youth workers across Europe through non-formal education and climate-conscious sports practices.
Best Practices Guide Completed (May 2025)
One of the major accomplishments this spring is the completion of the STELLA Best Practices Guide—a structured collection of projects, methods, and real-world examples that demonstrate how sport can be a powerful vehicle for environmental sustainability.
The guide was developed collaboratively by all project partners to:
-
Provide inspiration and proven strategies for youth organizations initiating green actions.
-
Serve as a practical tool for trainers, educators, and NGOs engaging young people in environmental issues.
-
Offer concrete references for stakeholders aiming to integrate sustainability into sports programming.
It’s now available for download and use by organizations across Europe.https://stellaproject.eu/activities-workshops/
Successful Implementation of the Third TPM – Cyprus (June 2025)
On June 26–27, 2025, AZO hosted the third Transnational Project Meeting (TPM) in Larnaca, Cyprus. Partners reviewed the finalized Best Practices Guide and agreed on strategies for its dissemination.
The meeting also focused on:
-
The development timeline and content for the STELLA Toolkit.
-
The rollout of local workshops, scheduled in each partner country.
-
Assigning clear tasks and responsibilities for the upcoming implementation phase.
-
Finalizing logistics for the next TPM and the final conference in December 2025.
Updates & Upcoming Events
Looking ahead, the STELLA partnership is gearing up for several key activities:
-
Local Workshops will be organized by all partners to apply the project’s tools and methodologies in direct youth engagement.
-
The final Transnational Meeting & STELLA Conference will take place in Braga, Portugal, hosted by Synergia from December 10–13, 2025.
These next steps will mark a crucial phase in transforming knowledge into local impact and ensuring that sport continues to play a meaningful role in the climate conversation.
