Scambio Giovanile “WAKE UP! Theatre for a colorful Europe”
04/12/2015 - 14/12/2015
Summary:
Intensifying international migration pressures present many societies with major policy dilemmas most countries of the world are becoming more multicultural, multi-ethnic, multireligious and multi-lingual. These changes challenge governments and civil society to accommodate and gain from this diversity in ways, which promote peace and respect for human rights. One in every fifty human beings, more than 150 million people live outside their countries of origin as migrants or refugees. They are highly vulnerable to racism, xenophobia and discrimination. The aim of this youth exchange is to give space to young people to discuss and act against racism and xenophobia by accepting and celebrating multiculturalism as a richness. We will work around four key words: racism, xenophobia, migration and multiculturalism through “theatre of the oppressed”, a participative theatre pioneered by the Brazilian Augusto Boal which involves the spectators and aims at social change. Through theatrical games and exercises the participants will learn how to feel more confident in using their body language to transmit a message and get to know about the dynamics of the theatre of the oppressed.
Minimum requirements: participants from 18 until 30 years old. The participants should be youngsters interested on theatre and
